    Walter Elbert Watts, son of Walter Irvin and Nettie Perrott Watts, was born on March4,1909, at Early IA. He passed away at the Alta Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for seven weeks on April 13,1983, at the age of 73 years 1 month and 9 days. He suffered severe paralytic stroke on September 8,1978, with complications following. Elbert spent his childhood days in the Storm Lake area later moving with his parents to Sumner in Eastern Iowa where he graduated in 1922 from the Sumner High School. He then attended one semester of college at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, graduating at midterm in a business course. He worked at a Produce store in Marcus, IA, for several months, then returned to his chosen profession of farming. He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he held several offices when health permitted. He was Nokomis Township clerk for 19 years and in the late sixties was cemetery custodian in which he took great interest. He was a 4-H leader, served in the 4-H county committee and the ASCS early program. He was interested and active in the welfare of his community. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother. On March 25,1931, he was united in marriage to Esther Strom at Alta. To this union two sons were born. Surviving are his wife, Esther, his Sons, Russell and wife Florence of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kenneth and his wife Sharon of Cherokee; Five Grandchildren and four great Grandchildren; one brother Guy of Alta, two sisters Jeanette Watts and Edith Gregg of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Six Nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday April 18 at 11:00 A.M. from the United Methodist Church in Alta with Rev. A. F. Schneck officiating. Honorary attendants were Earl Molgaard, Wesley Kindwall, Warren Hix, and Art Friedrich. Attendants were Wayne Ericksen, Howard Peterson, Robert Magnuson, Ray Mortensen, Warren Jimmerson, and Dr. Brian Walsh. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Alta under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home. In 1940 they bought and moved to a farm west of Alta lived there until 1973. Moved to Alta in new house. Both are buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

    W. I. Watts dies at Glidden, Iowa. It was learned late Tuesday afternoon of the passing of W. I. Watts, and his home in Glidden, Iowa. Mr. Watts a former resident of this community is a father of W. Ebert Watts and Guy Watts also of Alta. Tentative arrangements for funeral services have been made for the Friday, Dec. 16, at 1:00 of Farber Ottoman funeral home at Sac City. Burial will be made in the Cemetery on the east edges of Storm Lake. The sympathy of the community is extended to both Ebert and Guy Watts and their families in their bereavement. The Guy Watts and Ebert Watts families of Alta were saddened to receive the word that W. I. Watts of Glidden had died very suddenly Tuesday evening at his farm home. He had returned to the house after doing some chores and drop dead. Mr. and Mrs. Watts former resident of the Alta area, leaving about 1934. He was born and raised in the Early community. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Guy and Ebert Watts and two daughters, Jeanette Watts and Mrs. Charles Gregg, Edith, both of Chicago, and numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held from the Farber Ottoman funeral home, Sac City and Friday at 1 PM burial to be in Strom Lake.

    Walter Irvan Watts was born at Dyersville, Iowa, May 13,1884. to Walter and Eliza J. Whiting Watts. He passed away Tuesday evening Dec. 13,1960, of a heart attack, at the age of 76 years and 7 months. he spent most of his early life in the Early, Iowa community. He engaged in farming and dealt in livestock up until the time of his death. He married Nettie Perrott in September 1905. To this union were born four children: Ebert, Edith, Guy and Jeanette. He was preceded death by his first wife, and his sister, Eva. In in 1946 he married Hester A. Buihner, a loving wife with whom he spent his sunset years. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. He loved and served his church in all its activities. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Hester, is four children, five grandsons, to great grandsons, and one nephew, Fay A. Jackson. Funeral services were conducted at the Farber and Ottoman funeral home in Sac City. Interment was in the Storm Lake Cemetery. This information was published by the Alta Advertiser, Dec. 22, 1960.

    The community was saddened the first of this week when it was heard that Mrs. W. I. Watts had passed away at her home southwest of Sac City 1 PM Monday. She had not been in good health for sometime but she had been out and about and so her send passing came as a great shock to her husband and family. She had been ill only since the previous Wednesday but her condition was not considered serious. There remains to mourn her passing her husband for children; W. E. Watts and Guy Watts of Alta, Edith of Des Moines Jeanette, a member of the Waves in Hawaii. A cablegram was immediately sent to the latter, but no word has come from her, so it is presumed that the message has not yet reached her. Funeral arrangements have been delayed hoping that some word might yet come, but if not, the services will be held from the house at 2 PM and from the Methodist Church at 2:30 PM Friday. Rev. O. W. Brand, Minister of the local church and Rev. J. T. Snyder of Storm Lake officiate while Farber and Ottoman funeral homes will be in charge. Burial be made in the cemetery at Storm Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Watts purchased a small farm southwest of Sac City about two years ago and moved their. They were improving it and making a comfortable home for themselves for their old age.     Guy G. Perrott was just a lad when the family came to Dubuque county, Iowa where he was reared to farm life, and learned the trade of a brick mason and stone and marble cutter. He worked at that same for some years, during which time he assisted in building the state capitol at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa in 1878. In 1880 Mr. Perott came to Sac county, hwere he now owns 200 acres of fine land, and on which is a good one and a half story dwelling. He also has a beautiful grove an orchard of small fruits, and everything to be found on a well-regulated place. In additon to his farming, he is also engaged in the raising of stock.

    Our subject was married March 7, 1878 in Dyersville, Dubuque County, Iowa to Jennie Council, who was born, reared and educated in that county. She is the daughter of John and Matilda nee' Mogg Counsel, natives of Somersetshire, England. The mother died in 1802, and the father still resides in Dubuque County, Iowa. They were the parents of seven children, five now living viz: John, James, Charles, Jannie and Anna. Mr. and Mrs. Perrott have four daughters: Nettie Florence, Jennie Lillian, Jessie May and Edith Alice. Politically, Mr. Perrott takes an active part in the Republican party, and was a candidate for County Recorder in 1892. Both he and his wife are active members in the Methodist Episcopal Church of Early.

    Gabriel Guy, son of Cornelius and Pheobe Ann Perrott was born and Shepton, Mallet, Somersetshire, England on June 30, 1854. He lived til 1871 when he came to the United States, settling in Independence, Iowa,. He moved to Dyersville in 1872.
    On March 7, 1873 he was united marriage to Miss Jennie Counsel of Dyersville. They moved in 1880 to their present farm in Early. Of the nine members of their immediate family, all the three have been born or lived at some time on the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Perrott quietly observe their 61st wedding anniversary Tuesday of last week.
    They moved from the farm to Early in 1895 where Mr. Perrott engaged in the implement business. Later he became a traveling salesman and a block Man for the McCormick Company and still later for the International Harvester company with which he was associated until 1913. He then conducted in on automobile business until 1919. While living in Early he was a member of the Masonic lodge having joined in 1891. He served as a member of the City Council and for the school board for many years.
    Mr. Perrott was a lover of music and while living in England he was a choirboy and the Episcopalian church. He transferred to the Methodist Church in Early and was the first organist of the church.
    When the family moved to Storm Lake in the Fall of 1919. Mr. Perrott affiliated with the Methodist Church and sang in the choir for a number of years.
    Mr. Perrott chief interest were in his family and home. His music was always a source of inspiration and delight.
    His parents and four sisters preceded him in death. They are Annie, Belle, Mrs. R. T. Reodell, Dubuque; Ella Mrs. George B. Gould, Schaller; Lilly, Mrs. William Hahne, Schaller, one sister Mrs. Alice Dunkleberg of Des Moines, survives.
    He also leased to mourn his bereaved wife and four children: Nettie, Mrs. W. I. Watts of Ida Grove, Miss Lillian and Jesse Mrs. Henry Schmitz of Storm Lake, and Edith Mrs. R. E. Manley of Early. 11 grandchildren: Elbert Watts, Early; Guy Watts, Alta; Edith and Jeanette Watts, Chicago IL; Vivian Manley, Sioux City; Pauline and Ronald Manley of Early and the great-grandchild, Russell Watts of Early also survive.

    Jennie Matilda, the daughter John and Matilda Moggs Counsell, was born at Dyersville, Iowa, September 30, 1854, and passed away at her home at 329 Ontario Street, Storm Lake on Feb. 3, 1945, at the age of 90 years and five months. Her parents and five brothers, one sister and her husband preceded her death. Mr. Perrott passed away March 12, 1939.
    She spent her childhood at Dyersville, where she received your education in the public school. Our March 7, 1878, she was married to G. G. Perrott of Dyersville.
    In 1880 she came with her husband to Sac Co. and settled on a farm near Early, where they resided until 1895. They then moved to Early and live there until 1919 when they bought their present home in Storm Lake.
    Our March 7, 1928 the celebrated their golden wedding. At the time of Mr. Parrott death they had been married 61 years.
    Mrs. Perrott was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and she taught Sunday school class until her ill health in 1936 prevented her from attendance.
    She was also active member of the W. C. T. U. missionary and Ladies Aid Society and a member of the past matron of the Order of Eastern Star. In 1944 she received your certificate and gold pin for the 50 year membership in the Eastern Star.
    Mrs. Perrott was a kind and loving mother and a friend of everyone. Since her illness in 1936, she had been lovingly care for by her daughter Lillian.

He was a mason employing four men. Living with him was his sister Maria Jane Perrot and his cousin, Jane Perrot (daughter of William and Sarah nee' Fear McQuigg). In 1861 he was living in Shepton Mallet on Leg Street and was a builder employing 3 men and 3 boys. In 1871 he was living in Wedmore, Somerset, England evidently waiting to leave for the United States. His occupation was listed as master builder.

    Came to the United States to Dyersville, Iowa in 1872. Both Cornelius and Phoebe Ann were born in Shepton-Mallet, Somerset Shire, England. From the obituary of Kristen Watts: Cornelius Perrott was born in Lydford, Somerset Shire, England and died in Schaller, Iowa. Buried in Schaller Cemetery. Cornelius married Phoebe in Bristol, England. They came to the U.S. in 1872 settline in Independence, Iowa for a year then Dyersville.

    We understand that the contract for putting up the bank building of Messrs KOCH Bros. of this place has been let to Mr. Cornelius PERROTT who will commence the work as soon as the weather will permit. The building will be
    22x50 feet in size, 23 feet high with a fine brick front, with rustic cut stone dressing and a cornice of galvanized iron over hte top about four feet in height. This will without doubt be the finest building as far as workmanship and
    elegance of design is concerned, in the city, and will be a lasting ornament to the town.
