He was born in 1593 based on his reported age of 23 years at the time of his marriage in 1626. He was buried 21 May 1641 in the cemetery of the "old church" (Ned. Herv. dutch reformed church).

His marriage to Claertje Arents was announced in the "old church" (Ned. Herv. dutch reformed church) in Amsterdam on 10 December 1626 and later registered "civilly" on 20 December 1616 in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands. Sijmon is listed as "Simon Florissz," by the clerk, but he signed his name to this record spelling it "Sijmen Floros."
