    Laura W. Stegner, 85, died January 7 at Lettie Joy's Boarding Home in Lexington (MO).
    She was born February 5, 1898 in California, Mo. to Christopher Alexander and Lena Hessel Bantrup. She was married to Joseph W. Stegner. He proceded her in death on March 23, 1960.
    She was a member of the Boonville United Church of Christ, the Boonville American Legion Auxiliary. She had lived in Boonville before moving to Lexington a year and a half ago.
    Survivors include one son, WIlliam A. Stegner, Palm Beach, Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Anna K. Willig, Lexington; one brother, Walter Bantrup, Boonville; two sisters, Mrs. Frieda Bradshaw, Boonville, Mrs. Alma Hansen, Silver Springs. Maryland, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
    Services were held Tuesday January 10 at the Walker-Nadler-Graff Chapel with the Rev. Karl Kindt officiating; burial was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Boonville, with the Rev. Sara Hartman officiating.
    The family suggests memorials be made to Lettie Joy's Boarding Home in Lexington.

    Notes:

    When his father died in 1918, Christopher was give $1,500. He and Lenda lived in Boonville as early as 1900 when Fritz was born and probably earlier than that. Christopher operated a freight hauling service in Boonville. With Christopher there is some question as to how old he really was. His tombstone as he was born in 1871 but the census data points at 1880. Then James Bantrup remembered that his grandmother was 10 to 15 years older than Christopher.

    I, Johanna Westerman, of the County of Cooper in the State of Missouri, being of lawful age and sound mind, make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills and testaments heretofore made by me. FIRST: It is my will and desire that after my death my son-in-law, John Otten, take charge of my whole estate, real, personal and mixed. And dispose of the same as hereinafter directed, and to that end, I hereby appoint the said John Otten the sole executor of my said estate, with full power and authority to carry out the provisions of this my last will. SECOND: It is my further will and desire that after paying all my just debts, including my funeral expenses, and after paying to my daughter, Johanna Otten one Hundred Dollars, the residue of my said estate be divided equally between my children, viz: Theresa Blum, Englebertha Alter, George Westerman, Frank Westerman, Leborius Westerman, Johanna Otten and Kathrina Schreck, subject, however to the provisions and conditions hereinafter mentioned. FIFTH: It is my further will and request that the portion of my said estate hereinbefore bequeathed to my daughter Kathrina Schreck be retained and held by my said executor And that no part of the same be paid or delivered to the said Kathrina except the interest thereon which shall be paid annually to her for her own exclusive use and benefit, and after the death of the said Kathrina the whole of her said portion shall be divided equally between her said brothers and sisters or their decendants. Sixth: It is my further will and desire that my said executor as soon after my death as may to him seem best for the interests of my said estate, so dispose of an arrange the same as to carry out the provisions and intentions of this will, and in doing so, it is my wish that he be govered in his actions by his own judgment and discretion.
