  1. 2.  Yarnell, Silas was born on 1 Apr 1842 in Palestine Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA (son of Yarnall, John W and Yarnall, Delilah); died on 8 Apr 1891 in Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri, USA; was buried in Apr 1891 in Pilot Grove City Cemetery, Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri, USA.

    Other Events and Attributes:

Silas married Smith, Mary Jane on 27 Aug 1868 in Cooper, Missouri, USA. Mary was born in 1855 in Mount Sterling, Brown, Illinois, USA; died on 2 May 1913 in Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri, USA; was buried after 2 May 1913 in Pilot Grove City Cemetery, Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri, USA. 2. 3.  Smith, Mary Jane was born in 1855 in Mount Sterling, Brown, Illinois, USA; died on 2 May 1913 in Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri, USA; was buried after 2 May 1913 in Pilot Grove City Cemetery, Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri, USA.

    Notes:

Mary Ann Smith came to Missouri from Illinois in the company of two brothers. She wed Silas Yarnell in 1868. Possibly the unnamed brothers were pleased to be relieved of the teenaged Mary Ann, as she was married to Silas at a very young age. Silas and Mary Ann's children were; Ida May (b.1869), Sarah Frances (b.1872), Ira (b.1876), Harry (b.1881), and Frank Irvin (b.1884). Frank Irvin's birth is recorded in the Missouri Digital Heritage: Birth and Death Records, and the age of his mother is given as 32, which gives Mary Ann an alternate birth year of 1852. After Silas died in 1891 at the age of 49, of tuberculosis, Mary Ann remarried to John F. Kersey, and moved to Sedalia MO. John Kersey apparently died before Mary Ann, because Mary Ann's MO death certificate gives her marital status as "widow", but I have not been able to find any more information on John. Mary Ann & Silas are buried together and share a stone in the Pilot Grove City Cemetery.

    Children:
    1. Yarnell, Ida May was born on 24 Sep 1869 in Pilot Grove Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA; died on 28 May 1900 in Pettis, Missouri, USA; was buried in May 1900 in Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri, USA.
    2. Yarnell, Sarah Frances "Sally" was born on 4 Feb 1872 in Pilot Grove Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA; died on 6 Jul 1961 in Otterville, Cooper, Missouri, USA; was buried in Jul 1961 in Otterville IOOF Cemetery, Otterville, Cooper, Missouri, USA.

  1. 4.  Yarnall, John W was born on 12 Oct 1797 in Harrison, Kentucky, USA (son of Yarnall, Joseph and Wolf, Susanna); died on 24 Mar 1856 in Pilot Grove Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA; was buried in Mar 1856 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Boonville Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Occupation: Farmer

    Notes:

There is a note in the Cooper County Probate Court records that note a John Yarnall who died 24 Mar 1856 and his wife who died 03 Feb 1856. It then goes on to note that he left an unpaid bill for two coffins which he had ordered prior to his death. There is only one couple that fits this bill.

John married Yarnall, Delilah on 8 Dec 1817 in Missouri Territory, St Charles, St Charles, Missouri, USA. Delilah (daughter of Yarnall, John and Wolf, Elizabeth "BETSEY") was born in 1805 in Harrison, Kentucky, USA; died on 3 Feb 1856 in Pilot Grove Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA; was buried after 3 Feb 1856 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Boonville Township, Cooper, Missouri, USA. Other Events and Attributes:

    Notes:

    Married:
This marriage date is a county formation record date error. It is well documented that John and his brother were living in Boonville Township after the War of 1812. Cooper County did not become a county until 1818 and was formed from Howard Couty which came into existence in 1816. It is apparent that this marriage record somehow remained with the parent county.

But then again John could have travelled back to St Charles County, Missouri Territory to marry his first cousin. In which case the date and location would be correct.
