    • Obituary for Bessie P. McCoy
      Bessie P. McCoy, age 93, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. Bessie was born February 25, 1923, one of ten children of Thomas and Emma (Mooney) Pogue.

      On December 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Chester O. Taylor, who preceded her in death on October 5, 1969. Together, they had one child, Rosetta Darnell Taylor Burton. On July 17, 1973, she was united in marriage to Othal O. McCoy. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2002.

      Bessie was a homemaker. She kept busy gardening, canning, and sewing. These were the things she loved doing for herself and others.

      Bessie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Versailles. She loved the Lord with all her heart.

      She is survived by her daughter, Darnell Burton, and husband, Tim, of Versailles and three daughters of Othal’s. In addition, she is survived by two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two step-great- great-grandchildren.

      Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Versailles with Dr. Todd Forman officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Saturday, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles First Baptist Church.

      Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
