Prospector Dies in Fire of His Cabin Home

Smoldering embers of a once comfortable little cabin nestled in the mountains of Lump gulch several miles south of Helena bore mute testimony Tuesday of the tragic death of Frank Yama, 70 year old prospector. Yama was a gold prospector who labored in the rugged mountains of the area since 1931. It is believed that the fire occured on Sunday afternoon or night and that apparently the aged man had knocked over his oil lamp or stove. The old prospector had been very ill in recent days and may have collapsed, upsetting the lamp or stove to set the cabin afire.

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mr. Yama is survived by two nephews, Ernest W. Mares of St. Louis, M., and Joseph R. Mares of Texas City, Tex.; and two nieces, Lillian Sears of Seattle, Wash., and Blanche Mares of Helena.
