    Funeral Services Held Monday for Frank Chalupsky

    Born in Bohemia in 1853. He came to America in 1870.

    Mr. Frank Chalupsky, a retired farmer of the Luzerne community, passed away Saturday, April 22nd, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Benishek, living near this city. His death followed a protracted illness of many months.

    Mr. Chalupsky was born in Bohemia on Feb. 27, 1853, and was 86 years of age on February 27 last. He came to America in 1870 and lived in Cedar Rapids for 8 years. December 9, 1877 he was married to Anna Loyka at Cedar Rapids and the next year moved to the Luzerne community. They were the parents of six children, namely, Mrs. Anna Benishek of this vicinity, Mrs. Eva Longhurst of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Emma Torrence of Iowa City, Chas. Chalupsky of Blairstown, Mrs. Lilly Petersen of Waterloo, and Mrs. Helen LaQuatte of Berkley, Calif. Also surviving are one brother, Paul Chalupsky of Vinton and one sister, Mrs. Antonia Ziha of Irving. There are twenty-four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Chalupsky preceded him in death, dying Dec. 26, 1924. One brother, Joseph, died in 1938.

    Funeral services in charge of the Rev. J. Irvine Walker of this city and the Rev. W. H. Yoder of the Church of the Brethern of Waterloo were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Congregational church in this city. Mrs. G. L. Edwards sang Rock of Ages and In the Garden with Mrs. Marie Penrose.

    Pall bearers were his grandsons, Claire Banishek, Arting Langhurst, Ray Langhurst, Howard Petersen, and Bernard Chalupsky. Interment was made at the International cemetery south of Luzerne.

    JOSEPH RIHA, VINING RESIDENT, DIED JULY 4

    Services were conducted Monday at the Hrabak Funeral Home.
    Joseph Riha, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Riha, died Friday, July 4th at 1:00 o'clock a.m. at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids. The cause of his death was cerebral hemorrhage.

    Funeral services were conducted from Hrabek's Funeral Home Monday, July 7, Mr. T. B. Hlubusek, jr., of Cedar Rapids was in charge of the funeral. Burial was in the National cemetery in Vining.

    Those surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Jim Shanda, and Mrs. Frank Strachata, three brothers, James, Emil and Louis Riha. Mr. Rihas' wife, the former Tena Chalupsky, preceded him in death in May 1946.

    Mr. Riha was born in Bohemia, Europe, on July 11, 1874, and came to America 68 years ago. He was a long time resident of Vining and during his life time he had been a farmer. Mr. Riha was a member of the Z.C.B.J.

    ena Bohacek dies at age 94
    Mrs. Joseph (Tena) Bohacek, 94, of 505 Grant Street, Tama, died at noon Saturday, September 13, 1975, at Sunny Hill Care Center where she had been a patient for three weeks.
    Services were held Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 16, at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Harland T. Grant, pastor of the United Methodist Church, in charge. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama.
    As Tena Chalupsky, daughter of Joseph and Mary Chudly Chalupsky, she was born Oct. 23, 1880, at Luzerne. The family lived on a farm near Luzerne until moving to a farm near Elberon. As a young woman she had worked in several Toledo area home, and on June 2, 1902, was married to Joseph Bohacek of Tama.
    Mr. and Mrs. Bohacek had always lived in Tama where he had a flour and feed store and she had assisted him in the business. Mrs. Bohacek was a member of the Royal Neighbors and in earlier years had been very active in the Civic Improvement League.
    She is survived by two sons, Edward J., of Monroe, Wis., and Leonard J. Bohacek of Downey, Calif.; two daughters, Alice Bohacek, a former teacher who had made her home with her in Tama, and Mrs. Miles (Edith) Morgan of Pella; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Joseph Chalupsky, 96, of near Vinton, and Amil Chalupsky, 82, 1401 Grant street, Tama.
    She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955, and a daughter, Mrs. William (Mildred) Guyer, in 1968; three brothers, George, and William of near Fairfax, and Ed Chalupsky of Elberon, and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Tillie) Fowler of north of Toledo.
